Spring barley Narrator

A spring barley variety of the fodder type with excellent nutritional parameters. The protein content in this variety is around 12%. As is the case with the Komplet variety, thanks to its very high grain uniformity and high thousand grain weight (approx. 50 g), it allows a significant increase of the yield and profitability ofthe obtained feedstocks. Narrator is a high and stable yielding variety even during droughts (122% of the standard in 2019!).

The plants are short (71 cm) and have medium resistance to lodging. They are characterised by good disease resistance. Narrator is an early feathering variety and characterised by early full maturity compared to standard varieties. It is excellent as a component in cereal mixtures along with oats and spring wheat. Our variety also has excellent spring tillering. From the experiments we carried out at our cultivation stations, it was apparent that already at the sowing standard of 200 plants/m2 we could achieve very high yields and the resulting savings.

Warunki glebowe	Roślina o niskich wymaganiach glebowych, trzeba jednak pamiętać o wapnowaniu, gdyż jęczmień wymaga stanowisk o pH > 5,5 i zasobnych w składniki pokarmowe.
Miejsce w płodozmianie	Najlepszym przedplonem będzie burak cukrowy oraz ziemniaki. Dobrze znosi też uprawę po innych roślinach zbożowych. Należy unikać uprawy jęczmienia po sobie.
Nawożenie	Nie ma dużych wymagań pokarmowych, a w zależności od stanowiska, zasobności gleby oraz wysokości oczekiwanego plonu wymaga nawożenia: azotem – 80–120 kg N/ha fosforem – 40–80 kg P₂O₅/ha potasem – 60–100 kg K₂O/ha Na glebach cięższych korzystniej jest zastosować nawożenie jesienią, w całości pod orkę. Na glebach lżejszych przed wiosenną uprawą przedsiewną. Wapnowanie powinno być zastosowane pod przedplon jęczmienia. Nawożenie azotem zaleca się stosować dwuetapowo: I termin – przedsiewnie – 45–50 kg/ha, II termin – w fazie drugiego kolanka – pozostała dawka. Jęczmień jary wykazuje dużą wrażliwość na niedobory mikroelementów, szczególnie miedzi, którą zalecane jest nawożenie dolistne. Wapnowanie jest szczególnie ważne ze względu na wrażliwość gatunku na niskie pH.
Termin siewu i ilość wysiewu	Nasiona przed siewem należy zaprawić preparatami dostępnymi na rynku. Należy siać możliwie jak najwcześniej. Głębokość siewu 2–3 cm. Obsada powinna wynosić 280–320 roślin/m². Ilość wysiewu oscyluje w przedziale 130–150 kg/ha – jest to uzależnione od MTZ, siły kiełkowania i terminu siewu. Soil conditions	A plant with low soil requirements, but liming must be remembered, because barley does not like locations with low pH.
Place in crop rotation	The best pre-crops will be sugar beet and potatoes. It also tolerates cultivation after other cereal crops well. Avoid growing barley one by one.
Fertilization	It does not have high nutritional requirements, and depending on the location, it requires fertilization:
	with nitrogen – 80-120 kg N / ha
	phosphorus – 40-80 kg P₂O₅/ ha
	potassium – 60-100 kg K₂O/ ha
	They show high sensitivity to micronutrient deficiencies, especially copper, which is recommended as foliar fertilization. Liming is especially important due to the species sensitivity to low pH.
Sowing date and sowing amount	Before sowing, seeds should be treated with preparations available on the market. Sow as early as possible. Sowing depth of 2-3 cm. The stocking should be 280-320 plants / m². The sowing rate fluctuates in the range of 130-150 kg / ha – it depends on the MTZ, germination strength and sowing date.
